The new swine flu virus apparently spreads just like regular flu and become airborne if infected person cough or sneeze without covering their nose and mouth, sending germs into the air. The virus is transmitted by saliva or droplets of sneezing from an infected person. You could pick up germs directly from an infected person, or by touching an object they recently touched, and then touching your eyes, mouth, or nose, delivering their germs for your own infection. Infected people can start spreading flu germs up to a day before symptoms start, and for up to seven days after getting sick, according to the CDC.

And they are aren’t positive those kids have the swine flu, Only 2 most likely out of 1,000 students might of had it in New York.
And everyone in America has recovered or is recovering.
People are only dieing in Mexico cause they have poor health care.
I’m sure you will be fine.
Hopfully this whole flu thing will pass by.
Just stay indoors just incase you have it. Get some tamiflu. Wash your hands often and cough into a paper towel.

If the virus has been on surface for more then 8 hours then most likely you will not get it since it would die by then. but who knows how this virus was programmed by the government to kill the people. wash your hands with a mixture of a capful of hydrogen peroxide in a liter of water, since alcohol or purell do not kill this virus.

The swine flu virus can remain upto 2-8 hours on the surface. wash ur hands when u shake hands or touch things in public places.

Does anyone have any info, or articles on the safety of the Swine Flu Vaccine here in the UK. WITHOUT the conspiracy theories. So far, It is known that the vaccine is being administered before the results of the trials are released.
It’s safe, I’m sure of that, I have friends who are GP’s and they’re confident with administering the vaccine. the only problem is that there’s now a strain of the vaccine which is resistant to tamiflu (the vaccine) so before too long it might not be any use.
There are always people who react to any vaccines, e.g. if they’re allergic to something in it, but there haven’t been any stories of people dying because of the vaccine, only because of the actual disease. Better to have it.

What is the difference between the average flu every flu season and swine flu?

The name of the flu that people get every flu season is usually referred to as seasonal flu. Every year the viruses that are in the seasonal flu that goes around may differ, but most of those viruses we have been exposed to at some point. Swine flu is a strain of the flu that most of us have never been exposed to before. Because we have not been exposed to it before our bodies don’t have any immunity to it.

Also, there is some concern that the swine flu strain may mutate and become more deadly than it is. Right now most people that catch the swine flu are mildly sick. It is very contagious so what is most important is that you stay away from other people if you get sick. Over 2,000 university kids at just one school got sick in the first week of school. We could have a lot of sick people during flu season. Every year people die from the flu. More people die each year from the regular seasonal flu than have been dying from the swine flu. But for people with underlying health issues, swine flu has been difficult even in its current mild form.

What is the H1N1 Incubation Period?
How long will it take to get the flu after being exposed?

Are there human infections with swine flu in the U.S.?

In late March and early April 2009, cases of human infection with swine influenza A (H1N1) viruses were first reported in Southern California and near San Antonio, Texas. Other U.S. states have reported cases of swine flu infection in humans and cases have been reported internationally as well. CDC and local and state health agencies are working together to investigate this situation.

The total number of deaths in the city believed to be related to swine flu is now 25, while 89 people are in hospital with swine-flu symptoms, said Armando Ahued Ortega, head of the city’s health department. He said that 31 people had been hospitalized on Monday while 14 had been discharged from hospital.

The estimated incubation period is unknown and could range from 1 to 7 days, and more likely 1 to 4 days.

Persons with novel H1N1 flu virus infection should be considered potentially contagious (able to spread disease) for up to 7 days after illness onset. Persons who continue to be ill longer than 7 days should be considered potentially contagious until symptoms have resolved. Children, especially younger children, might be contagious for longer periods. People with influenza-like illness should stay home for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone (without the use of fever-reducing medicine). A fever is defined as having a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater.

It’s important to remember that we are still in flu and allergy season and it’s not uncommon to have cold or flu-like symptoms. If you are sick, stay home from work or school to monitor your health. If you do have symptoms where you think you need urgent care, contact your doctor right away.
